Only King Forever

Our God, a firm foundation
Our rock, the only solid ground
As nations rise and fall
Kingdoms once strong now shaken
But we trust forever in your name
The name of Jesus, we trust the name of Jesus
You are the only King forever
Almighty God we lift You higher
You are the only King forever
Forevermore, you are victorious
Unmatched in all your wisdom
In love and justice you will reign
Every knee will bow
We bring our expectations
Our hope is anchored in your name
The name of Jesus, we trust the name of Jesus
We lift our banner high
We lift the name of Jesus
From age to age you reign
Your kingdom has no end
It’s Palm Sunday, the day that marks the beginning of the greatest week in human history, culminating with the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who died in our place for our sins so that we could be restored in a right relationship with a holy God.
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout aloud, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your king is coming to you; righteous and having salvation is he, humble and mounted on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. Zechariah 9:9
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. Save us, we pray, O Lord! O Lord, we pray, give us success! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! We bless you from the house of the Lord. The Lord is God, and he has made his light to shine upon us. Bind the festal sacrifice with cords, up to the horns of the altar! You are my God, and I will give thanks to you; you are my God; I will extol you. Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! Psalm 118:24–29
And so today, we join with those who praised Jesus on that road to Jerusalem, declaring “Hosanna!”, meaning “Lord, save us!”
Prayer
Save us from our own selfish desires. Save us from our sinful ways. Save us from turning our eyes away from you, Jesus. And we already know, you have promised to do just that – for all those who believe in you – you have saved us by your sacrifice on the cross.
Saved My Soul

You my God have saved my soul
I am yours forevermore
I won’t be moved of this I’m sure
You are my God and you saved my soul
I was lost when you came for me
Held in chains by the enemy
But you broke them in victory
Now I’m free, I am free
You’re my joy and you are my hope
I am saved by your grace alone
I will sing of your love for me
I am free, I am free
Now I stand with the Kings of kings
He has paid for my every sin
And from now through eternity
I am free, I am free
What once was dead is now alive
You gave to me the breath of life
You brought me up out from the grave
I’m bursting out with songs of praise

Ancient of Days

Though the nations rage, kingdoms rise and fall
There is still one King reigning over all
So I will not fear for this truth remains:
That my God is the Ancient of Days
None above him, none before him, all of time in his hands
For His throne it shall remain and ever stand
All the power, all the glory, I will trust in his name
For my God is the Ancient of Days
Though the dread of night overwhelms my soul
He is here with me, I am not alone
O his love is sure and he knows my name
For my God is the Ancient of Days
Though I may not see what the future brings
I will watch and wait for the Savior King
Then my joy complete standing face to face
In the presence of the Ancient of Days
Prayer of Illumination
Lord, open our hearts and minds by the power of your Holy Spirit,
that, as the Scriptures are read and your Word proclaimed,
we may hear with joy what you say to us today. Amen.

The Mystery of the Faith
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ, we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again!
Victory In Jesus

I heard an old, old story,
How a Savior came from glory,
How he gave his life on Calvary
To save a wretch like me;
I heard about his groaning,
Of his precious blood’s atoning,
Then I repented of my sins
And won the victory.
I heard about his healing,
Of his cleansing pow’r revealing.
How he made the lame to walk again
And caused the blind to see;
And then I cried, “Dear Jesus,
Come and heal my broken spirit,”
And somehow Jesus came and bro’t
To me the victory.
I heard about a mansion
He has built for me in glory.
And I heard about the streets of gold
Beyond the crystal sea;
About the angels singing,
And the old redemption story,
And some sweet day I’ll sing up there
The song of victory.
O victory in Jesus, my Savior, forever.
He sought me and bought me with his redeeming blood;
He loved me ere I knew him and all my love is due him,
He plunged me to victory, beneath the cleansing flood.
Benediction
Brothers and sisters, as we enter into this holy week, let us keep our eyes on Jesus. He will show us where we need to go. Go in peace.
