A Service for House Worship - 3/15

come let us 2.jpg

For those who might not be able to make it to church this Sunday because of COVID-19, or other reasons, we created this worship opportunity for you and your family to be able to worship together in your homes. We are praying for you - for health and safety - but most of all, we are praying for the church of God to share His love with all who may be fearful and in distress during this time. God bless you as you keep your eyes focused on Jesus!

Call to Worship – Psalm 29:1–2

Ascribe to the Lord, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of holiness.

Prayer

Lord, be with us this day, Within us to purify us; Above us to draw us up; Beneath us to sustain us; Before us to lead us; Behind us to restrain us; Around us to protect us. Amen. (Patrick, c.389-461)

Response – Way Maker (Osinachi Okoro, 2016)

You are here, moving in our midst I worship you, I worship you
You are here, working in this place I worship you, I worship you

Way maker, miracle worker
Promise keeper, Light in the darkness
My God, that is who you are
Way maker, miracle worker
Promise keeper, Light in the darkness
My God, that is who you are

Even when I don’t see it You’re working
Even when I don’t feel it You’re working
You never stop, You never stop working
You never stop, You never stop working

Prayer of Confession

Almighty God, you love us, but we do not love you fully. You call, but we do not always listen. We often walk away from neighbors in need, wrapped in our own concerns. God of grace, help us to admit our sin, so that as you move toward us in mercy, we may repent, turn to you, and receive forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Redeemer. Amen.

Apostles Creed

I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, Our Lord. He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again. He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the universal Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

Gospel Reading
Read John 4:1–42

Prayer for Others

Almighty and all–loving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; we thank you for leading us in worship and furthermore, seeking out those who worship in spirit and truth. We pray that this world will turn to you and seek your face. We pray for those who suffer from sickness and hurt. Especially during this time, we pray your healing hand upon those who are sick, that you give wisdom to policymakers, skill to healthcare professionals and researchers, comfort to everyone in distress, and a sense of calm to all of us in these days of uncertainty. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord who showed compassion to the outcast, acceptance to the rejected, and love to those to whom no love was shown.

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Yours is the kingdom, the power, the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

Response – His Mercy Is More (M. Boswell / M. Papa, 2016)

What love could remember, no wrongs we have done
Omniscient, all-knowing, He counts not their sum
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What patience would wait as we constantly roam
What Father so tender is calling us home
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

What riches of kindness He lavished on us
His blood was the payment His life was the cost
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

Praise the Lord — His mercy is more
Stronger than darkness, new every morn’
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more

Benediction

The peace of God, which passes all understanding, keep your hearts and minds in the knowledge and love of God, and of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord; and the blessing of God Almighty, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, be among you, and remain with you always. Amen.

Doxology

Praise God from whom all blessings flow
Praise Him all creatures here below
Praise Him above ye heavenly hosts
Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
Amen
